Ingredient List

To make ham and beans in the crockpot, start by rinsing and then soaking your beans the night before. If you forget to do that the night before use the quick soak method. I personally almost always forget to soak my beans the night before and end up using the quick soak method, so it really doesn’t make a big difference. Next, chop ham, onion, celery, and carrots if you choose to add them. Put your ham bone in the crockpot first and then add your beans vegetables and spices. Fill up with water so everything is covered. I usually cook on high for the first hour and then turn the crockpot down to low for the next 7 hours. It is ready as soon as your beans are tender. This is delicious with bread or cornbread.
