Equipment

  • 1 Crockpot or slow cooker You can also use your instant pot. Just change your cooking time.

Ingredients

  • 1 Leftover ham bone
  • 2 cups Ham cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 Onion
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Celery
  • 16 oz. Great Northern Beans (dry)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 Tbsp Parsley dried
  • 6 cups Water, or as needed to cover

Instructions

  • 1. Rinse and soak beans overnight. If you forget to do the overnight soak, you can do the quick soak by bringing 6-8 cups of water and beans to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, cover with the lid and let stand for one hour.
    2. Add ham bone, beans, onion, celery, chopped ham, garlic and onion powder, parsley, and salt and pepper to the crock pot. Pour in enough water to cover. Cook on high for 4-6 hours or low for 6-8 hours until beans are tender.
