Change your mindset change your life. I am sure you have heard that saying and if not, it is very true. A healthy mindset will change your life. This is another important habit to create to have your best life! In this post, I will give you 5 tips to create a healthy mindset.

You take your mindset, your beliefs, and your past patterns with you everywhere you go. This is why sometimes you go back and forth on the positive results in your life that you are trying to make and it is hard to keep those changes. The mindset work isn’t set. You haven’t made it WHO you are. You just keep trying to change your circumstances. Changing your mindset will change how you do everything! Changing your mindset allows you to do something to change your past patterns and get the results you want in life.

Many years ago, I struggled with depression and felt like a total failure. My marriage was hard, my finances were hard and I was homeschooling four kids. I was spiraling down and couldn’t figure out how to get out of the funk that I was in. I started praying and asking God to free me from my self-sabotage. As a result of my prayers, He started showing me the lies I was telling myself and led me to ultimately change my mindset. I was then, freed from my depression, and feeling like a failure by changing my mindset and aligning my beliefs to God’s truth. After this change, I wanted to help others walk with the same freedom that I had experienced so this is what led me to become a Certified Covenant Life Coach.

Tips to Create a Healthy Mindset

1. Practice Metacognition

What is metacognition? It is the awareness and understanding of one’s thought processes. Think about what you are thinking about. So, always be aware of what your thoughts are. Our thoughts create how we feel, how we feel determines what we do, and what we do creates the life we have. So whatever kind of life you want to live, make sure the thoughts you are thinking will take you there. Your mindset is the key to living the life you want. When you are thinking about what you are thinking about ask yourself these questions, How is this making me feel? Does it feel empowering or disempowering? Make sure your thoughts empower you.

2. Align your thoughts with Truth

You want to be sure your thoughts are true thoughts, and that you aren’t creating your own drama in your mind. The best way to know, if your thoughts are true is by using God’s word to analyze them. You may also want to ask yourself this question, Is what I am thinking true?

Proverbs 4:23 tells us ” Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Philippians 4:8 says ” Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise think about these things”.

Romans 12:2 says “ Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good pleasing and perfect will.

3. See the Positives, not the negatives

So often people are focused on finding fault, focusing on what people do wrong. What if you focused on what people do right? Point out their strengths and focus on what they do right. Take this moment moving forward and see the positives in people and the world around you. Ask yourself this question, Is this a positive thought? How does this make me feel?

4. Write out your thoughts

Keeping a journal helps to keep our thoughts and our mindset in check. Whenever you start to feel overwhelmed or you feel uncomfortable start writing out what you are thinking. Getting it out on paper helps us to let it go. It also helps us to correct our thoughts to come back into alignment with the truth.

5. The Key is Love

The key to almost everything, especially a healthy mindset is love. If you look at life through the lens of love it will change your life. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 says, ” Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but it rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 16:14 Let all that you do be done in love.

Creating a healthier mindset will help you in every area of your life. If you struggle with this I would love to talk to you! Feel free to reach out to me and we can hop on a call.
