Day 5: Remember Who You Are

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

For A 30 Day Journey to a Beautiful Life, Day 5, we are going to ask ourselves a question.

Who am I?

Not what you do.

Or what has happened to you.

Not what someone else has said about you.

The mistakes you have made.

Or the season you are walking through.

Who does God say you are?

Sometimes we spend so much time trying to become someone that we forget who God has already called us to be.

You are not forgotten.

Disqualified.

Or your past.

Not your failures.

And you are not the labels that other people have placed on you.

You belong to God.

1 Peter 2:9 tells us that we are chosen, a royal priesthood, holy, and God’s own special people.

That changes the way we see ourselves.

You are chosen.

Called.

Loved.

You are set apart for a purpose.

And when you know whose you are, you can begin to walk differently.

What Does Scripture Say About Who You Are?

You are a child of God.
“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, He gave the right to become children of God.”- John 1:12

You are a new creation.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, the new has come!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

You are God’s workmanship.
“For we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”- Ephesians 2:10

You are chosen and loved.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. – Colossians 3:12

You are free from condemnation in Christ.
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” – Romans 8:1

You are redeemed and forgiven.
“In Him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” – Ephesians 1:7

You are more than a conqueror through Christ.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” – Romans 8:37

And perhaps one of the most important things to remember:

Your identity is not something you have to earn. It is something you receive from God.

You don’t have to perform your way into being loved.

Become perfect before God can use you.

Or have everything figured out.

You simply need to know who you are in Christ and begin walking from that place.

Today’s Challenge: Speak Your I AM Declarations

Today, I want you to take out a piece of paper or your journal and write:

I AM…

But don’t fill in the blanks with what the world tells you.

Fill them in with what God says about you.

Write these down. Read them slowly. Say them out loud.

I AM

Chosen.

A child of God.

Loved by God.

Forgiven.

Redeemed.

A new creation in Christ.

God’s workmanship.

Called for a purpose.

Set apart for God.

A royal priesthood.

Holy and beloved.

Free from condemnation.

Not defined by my past.

Or forgotten.

Not alone.

More than a conqueror through Christ.

Becoming the woman God created me to be.

And here’s one more:

I am His.

Take a few minutes today and write your own I AM declarations based on Scripture.

Then choose one declaration that speaks especially deeply to you right now.

Write it somewhere you will see it.

Put it on your bathroom mirror.

Make it your phone lock screen.

Write it in your journal.

And every time that old thought comes back—the thought that says I’m not enough, I’m too broken, I’ve messed up too much, I’ll never change, I’m not worthy—stop and replace the lie with the truth.

“But God says I am…”

This isn’t about pretending everything is perfect.

It’s about allowing God’s truth to become louder than the lies you’ve believed.

A Prayer for Today

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for helping me see myself the way You see me. Remind me that I am chosen, loved, forgiven, redeemed, and created with purpose. Thank you for helping me let go of the labels, lies, and old identities that no longer belong to me. Renew my mind with Your truth. Thank you for teaching me to walk confidently not because I have everything together, but because I know I belong to You. And thank you for reminding me who I am and whose I am.

In Jesus name, Amen.

A beautiful life begins with knowing who you are.

And when you know that you are God’s beloved daughter, you don’t have to spend your life trying to prove your worth.

You can simply begin to live from it.

Today, remember who you are.

You are His.

Blessings to you!

Danelle
