Day 10: Create a Peaceful Space in Your Home

“For God is not a God of disorder but of peace…” 1 Corinthians 14:33a

Have you ever walked into a room and immediately felt overwhelmed? Or sat down in a space that felt calm, cozy, and welcoming, and noticed how differently you felt?

Our surroundings can affect how we feel. When our homes are cluttered and chaotic, it can be harder to slow down, think clearly, and find moments of rest. But when we intentionally create spaces that feel peaceful, we give ourselves room to breathe.

Over the past few days, we’ve been talking about bringing order into our homes and learning to let go of the things that no longer serve us. Today, let’s take the next step.

Instead of focusing on what needs to go, let’s focus on what we want to create.

You don’t need a perfectly decorated home or an entire room dedicated to peace. You can begin with one small space.

Maybe it’s a comfortable chair where you can spend time with God in the morning. Perhaps it’s your bedside table, cleared of clutter and holding only the things you need. It might be a quiet corner with your Bible, a journal, and a cozy blanket.

For me, creating space to spend time with God has been an important part of my own journey. I learned that I didn’t need a perfect setting to meet with Him. I simply needed to make room for Him in my day and in my heart.

Our homes don’t have to look like anyone else’s. They need to serve the people who live in them and provide places where we can rest, connect, and grow.

Sometimes, creating a more peaceful home begins with asking ourselves a different question:

What do I want this space to make possible in my life?

Do I want a place to pray? A place to rest? A place to connect with my family? Or a place where I can sit quietly and gather my thoughts?

When we know what we want a space to do for us, we can begin shaping it with intention.

Your Day 10 Challenge

Choose one small space in your home that you’d like to make more peaceful.

  1. Clear away anything that doesn’t belong there.
  2. Clean the area and keep only what you need or love.
  3. Add one simple touch that makes it feel welcoming, such as a favorite blanket, a Bible, fresh flowers, or a meaningful reminder of God’s faithfulness.
  4. Spend five minutes there today, enjoying the space you’ve created.

Don’t worry about making it perfect. The goal isn’t to create a picture-perfect home. It’s to create a home that supports the life God is helping you build.

A Prayer for Today

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the home you’ve given me. Help me create spaces that bring peace, invite connection, and remind me of Your presence. Thank You for showing me how to care for my home with intention rather than striving for perfection. May my home be a place where my family and I can rest, grow, and draw closer to You.

In Jesus name, Amen.

One Small Step Toward a Beautiful Life

Today, don’t focus on everything that still needs to be done. Focus on one space you can make more peaceful.

You are not just clearing a home. You are creating room for peace, connection, and the presence of God in your everyday life.

Tomorrow, we’ll continue our journey toward a more beautiful life, one small step at a time.

Blessings!

Danelle
