God is always there even when you are uncertain
Have you ever gone through a hard time and wondered if God was there? Well, I can tell you for sure that God is always there. Before Jesus left this earth, he spoke the following words to his disciples, “And behold, I am always with you, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).
In 2001 the company that my husband was working for asked us to relocate to Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico. We had three very young children at the time so I was hesitant about the idea. But after a lot of prayers and going down for a visit, I felt that God gave me the assurance that He would protect us. We made the decision to move our family to Mexico for the next six months.
While there, we would drive back and forth to El Paso, Texas to buy all our groceries. On one of our trips to Texas, we decided to spend a day at the water park. When we returned back to Mexico, one by one my kids ended up getting very sick with E Coli which they contracted at the water park. Our eighteen-month-old ended up being so ill that we needed to take her to the hospital. In the hospital, we had a very difficult time communicating with the doctors. We didn’t speak Spanish very well and none of the doctors could speak English. My daughter had to stay in the Hospital and I stayed with her. It was a very eerie and lonely feeling. I started to let fear come over me.
The Power of Prayer
So, I started to pray. I reminded God that He promised. He promised to take care of us and to be with us. But the moment, I told God He promised, a young doctor walked in. The young man was an intern and his dream was to become a doctor in the United States. He was very kind but spoke very broken English. The young intern assured me that just because the doctors didn’t speak my language that they still knew what they were doing. He then told me that his fiance, who also dreamed of being a doctor in the United States, was from England and spoke perfect English. He told us that he would go get her and that she would be able to answer all my questions and let me know what the doctor’s plans were. I knew at that moment that God answered my prayer. Shortly, the young intern returned with his fiance and she gave me all the reassurance that I needed.
God was there for us. He always keeps his promises. Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you.”
