Day 17: Your Body Is a Temple

“Do you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Today’s Beautiful Truth

Have you ever stopped to think that your body is a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit?

Let that sink in for a moment.

Our bodies are not simply something we live in. They are gifts from God, created with purpose and entrusted to us to care for.

Yet how often do we put our physical health at the bottom of our priority list?

We take care of everyone else. We make sure our families are fed, our homes are managed, our responsibilities are handled, and everyone around us has what they need.

But what about us?

Do we get enough sleep? Are we nourishing our bodies with foods that give us life and energy? Are we moving our bodies? Do we take time to slow down and care for ourselves?

Sometimes we become so accustomed to pushing through exhaustion that we forget our bodies need care, too.

In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Paul reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. This powerfully reminds us that caring for our physical health is not separate from our walk with God.

It can be an act of stewardship.

Think about the care we put into our homes. We clean, organize, repair, and maintain them because we want them to be places of peace and comfort.

What if we approached our bodies with that same intentionality?

What if instead of criticizing our bodies, we began thanking God for them?

Or what if instead of constantly focusing on what we want to change, we started focusing on how we can better care for what He has given us?

This isn’t about chasing perfection, fitting into a certain size, or comparing ourselves to someone else.

It’s about honoring God.

It’s about recognizing that our physical health matters and that small, intentional choices can make a difference.

Choosing nourishing foods, drinking enough water, getting outside for fresh air, moving our bodies, getting restorative sleep, and allowing ourselves to rest are all practical ways we can begin caring for ourselves.

We don’t have to change everything overnight.

We simply need to begin.

As we continue this 30-day journey, remember that a beautiful life includes your physical well-being. Your body deserves care, nourishment, and gratitude.

You are not just caring for your body. You are stewarding something God has entrusted to you.

Pause & Reflect

Take a few moments to reflect on your relationship with your physical health.

  • Have I been treating my body as something valuable that God has entrusted to me?
  • What habits have I developed that may be keeping me from feeling my best?
  • Am I nourishing my body, or am I simply getting through each day?
  • What is one area of my physical health where God may be inviting me to make a change?

Remember, this isn’t about shame or condemnation. It’s about awareness, gratitude, and choosing to move forward with intention.

Today’s Beautiful Step

Today, choose one simple way to honor your body.

Perhaps you can:

  • Prepare a nourishing meal using whole, natural foods.
  • Take a 20-minute walk and enjoy God’s creation.
  • Drink more water throughout the day.
  • Go to bed a little earlier.
  • Spend a few minutes stretching and moving your body.
  • Replace negative thoughts about your body with gratitude for what it allows you to do.

Don’t try to do everything. Choose one thing and do it intentionally.

As you make that choice, remember that caring for yourself isn’t selfish. It’s part of being a good steward of what God has given you.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the body You have given me and for the incredible way You created me. Forgive me for the times I have neglected my health, taken my body for granted, or focused more on its imperfections than on the gift it is.

Thank you for helping me become a better steward of my physical health. Give me wisdom in the choices I make about what I eat, how I move, how I rest, and how I care for myself.

Teach me to see my body through Your eyes, with gratitude rather than criticism.

Help me establish healthy habits that support the life You have called me to live. May the way I care for myself honor You.

Thank You for the Holy Spirit who dwells within me. Help me live each day with greater intention, gratitude, and purpose.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Carry This With You

Your body is a gift, not an inconvenience.

You don’t have to wait until you reach a certain weight, look a certain way, or feel a certain age to begin treating yourself with care and respect.

Start where you are. Give yourself grace. Make small choices that honor God and support your well-being.

Remember, we are on a journey, and every intentional step matters.

You are God’s creation. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Treat it with gratitude, care, and love.

Tomorrow, we’ll continue our journey by looking at how what we speak over ourselves influences how we think, live, and walk out the beautiful life God has for us.

Blessings!

Danelle
